A School-Centred Approach to Teacher Training

 

Our school-centred PGCE training programme allows you to train locally, within a network of excellent schools that form a strong, collaborative learning community. Our schools are known for their high standards in teaching and learning, and you'll be learning directly from experienced, inspirational educators in real classroom settings from day one.

We offer school placements in both Catholic and non-Catholic primary schools across a wide geographical area, including Ryedale, York, Scarborough, Thirsk, and the surrounding areas. We pride ourselves on the breadth of placements available and our ability to match trainees with high-quality schools close to home.

Our Programme

​

Our programme runs full-time from September to June and leads to both Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

​

Training is primarily school-based, allowing you to learn directly from experienced practitioners. As the course progresses, you'll gradually take on more responsibility — moving from observation to teaching up to 80% of the timetable by the end of the programme.
