RQT/Early Career Teacher Programme 2019-2020

Aims of the Programme: To provide practical training that is based on the best possible current practice. The participants will leave with a better understanding of the day to day work that a teacher undertakes. To provide a variety of input from outstanding current practitioners.

28.01.20. DAY 1

Literacy Across the Curriculum: with Kelly Ashley

9:00-3:30 @All Saints York

With nearly 20 years of experience in education, Kelly Ashley (@kashleyenglish) has enjoyed teaching, leadership, research and advisory roles in both England and America. With an MA in Education – Primary Reading Specialist – from East Carolina University, USA and an MA in Educational Leadership and Change Management from York St John University, she has firm roots in educational research, offering evidence-based, primary English professional development for schools.

Kelly has delivered her #WordPower CPD programme to over 50 primary schools in Yorkshire, the North East and London. She has collaborated with Huntington Research School to explore vocabulary development at the transition between primary and secondary, supporting facilitation of their The Literacy Challenge at Transition course (summer 2018). She has written for the Chartered College of Teaching in their summer 2018 edition of Impact – Word Power: Creating a Language-Rich Environment. 04.03.20. DAY 2

10am start @ St. Wilfrid’s York.

MC Grammar workshop and training.

The world famous MC Grammar has featured on the ‘Ellen Show’ in Hollywood and on ‘This Morning’ with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby! He is currently working with Dr. Seuss to rebrand some of their books in a rap format.

Jacob Mitchell/ MC Grammar is a teacher and educational advisor based in North London. His own brand of rap brings grammar to life for all pupils. Instagram@mrmcgrammar &  www.mc-grammar.com

 

 

15.05.20. DAY 3

9:00-3:30 @ All Saints York

Developing the Curriculum with Abigail Savage. You will have the chance to work alongside Abigail to develop your own class’s curriculum. This will ensure that your pupils are inspired and motivated and have full coverage of the curriculum. The day will be very practical and you will leave with a range of resources to use within your own setting.
