Aims of the Programme: To provide practical training that is based on the best possible current practice. The participants will leave with a better understanding of the day to day work that a teacher undertakes. To provide a variety of input form outstanding current practitioners.
Programme Content and Structure:
DAY 1 – 28.01.2020.
9:00am-3:30pm, All Saints, York
Introductions & Programme Rationale what you will gain from the 3 days.
Practical Mathematics 11-12 with Maths Specialist Teacher Josh Greening: This will include, Problem Solving, No Ceiling Tasks, Introduction to Shanghai Maths, Marking &Feedback looking at pupils books, Open forum for questions and feedback. You will be working with our KS2 pupils as they take part in a problem solving activity. This will give you a chance to enhance your Assessment for Learning Skills, discuss learning with pupils, see on the spot marking in action and discuss pedagogy with the KS2 team at St. Peter’s.
EYFS 9:30– with Early Years Moderator Antonia Wilson: This will include an introduction to EYFS and the Early Learning Goals, how in the moment planning can be implemented across school. You will join our EYFS pupils and have the chance to take part in plotting classroom learning journeys, develop in the moment planning and discuss the learning with the EYFS team.
Religious Education with National Lead Educator Section 48 Inspector and Lead Woman in Education Anne Parr: This will include, How to teach RE practical examples, Assessments in RE, Come & See Curriculum. There will be a chance to discuss planning and to take part in book scrutiny. Anne has a wealth of knowledge and experience and will share best practice and practical ideas for the classroom.
DAY 2 – 4.03.20.
9:00am-3:30pm, St Wilfrid’s, York
Engaging Literacy with Emily Brooksbank: This will include, Talk for Writing, Real Writing Linking writing & Science, Linking Literacy to your topic work, Marking and Feedback. You will take an active part in a Streamed Writing Lesson. You will have the chance to take part in the teaching and learning, provide feedback for pupils and discuss the lesson with the Key Stage Two Team. Emily will share resources and strategies such as ‘Vocabulary Ninja’ that have been developed by Sir Clive Davis of Focus Education.
SEND & Safeguarding with Mary Greaves: This will cover, Quality First Teaching, wave 1 Support, Behaviour Management, Safeguarding and Child Protection. Mary is a very experienced SENCo and will discuss the practical application of Special Needs Support. She has an extremely good record of helping pupils with SEND to bridge the attainment gap with their peers.
Outdoor Learning on North Bay Beach: with SLE Sarah Seeley: How to maximise engagement through the use of the outdoors, Beach Schools and Forest Schools. Sarah will lead a Beach Schools session for one of our year groups. You will learn how to use the environment to maximise the curriculum. There will be a chance to make open fires and hot chocolate with Kelly Kettles.
NB: Please bring suitable clothing and footwear.
DAY 3 – TBC
9.00am-3:30pm, All Saints York
Monitoring and Assessment how to make the most out of assessments, including external monitoring eg OFSTED S48 with David Harrison Executive Headteacher & Teaching School Lead.
Report writing this will include some time management strategies.
